Background
MEP1A belongs to the peptidase M12A family. Interacts with MBL2 through its carbohydrate moiety. This interaction may inhibit its catalytic activity. It is the best characterized of the meprins and is known to hydrolyze peptides such as bradykinin, melanocyte-stimulating hormone, neurotensin, luteinizing hormone releasing hormone, transforming growth factor-alpha, and parathyroid hormone.
