| Protein Background | SORD enzyme is part of of the zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family that is broadly expressed in kidney and in the lens eye. SORD enzymatically catalyzes the zinc-dependent interconversion of polyols, such as sorbitol and xylitol, to their respective ketoses. |
